A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. -Lao Tzu. This Chinese proverb is so true in relationship to any goals, tasks, or achievements both small and large. This could be for speaking up about injustices like childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault. It could be about healing from past abuses; taking that step to call a counsellor or therapist. It could be about saying, “no, you can’t do this to me anymore!” It could simply be about scheduling in your self-care. What ever the first step is in your journey, it is a first of many to come.
What’s great about this proverb is that it gives encouragement to your journey. A simple statement with such oomph or energy so that you stay focused on overwhelming and difficult tasks. Even the most complex goals can be achieved when you break down your big goals into small achievable tasks. Be courageous and brave as you already are. Don’t give in, and don’t give up.
